This recipe is one of my personal favorites from my downloadable Christmas treat recipe book: 6 Ways to Enjoy Christmas Treats without Blowing Your Progress. I’m sharing this one and another on the blog to give you a taste of how good “healthy” can be. If you love the approach, the book is your secret weapon for a joyful, balanced season.
Why This Truffle Is a Wellness Win
Let’s talk about what’s inside this blissful bite. This isn’t just empty calories; it’s functional nourishment dressed in its holiday best.
- The Cherry Advantage: Those lush, pitted dried cherries are more than just a natural sweetener. They’re packed with antioxidants that help your body manage everyday oxidative stress—something that can increase during the busy holidays. They create a sticky-sweet paste that forms the very heart of the truffle.
- The Dark Chocolate Alchemy: We’re using 70% cocoa dark chocolate, a superstar in the wellness world. It’s rich in polyphenols, compounds known to support overall well-being. When paired with cherry’s antioxidants, it’s a flavor-and-health synergy that feels truly indulgent.
- Mindful Indulgence: By using whole-food ingredients and controlling the sweetness naturally, this treat satisfies your cravings without the blood sugar roller coaster. A light sprinkle of flaked sea salt on top isn’t just for garnish; it enhances the flavors deeply, meaning you’re fully satisfied with just one or two.
The magic is in the pairing. Together, cherry and dark chocolate deliver a richer, more complex flavour while quietly supporting your body. You can enjoy the festive spirit, taste by delicious taste, without the post-sugar guilt.

StreetSmart Cooking Tips
Making these truffles is wonderfully simple, but a few chef’s secrets make them flawless:
- Paste Perfection: If your dried cherries are a little firm, let them soak in warm water for 10 minutes before blending. Drain well. This plumps them up for a smoother paste.
- Melting Moment: Melt your dark chocolate gently, either in a double boiler or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring frequently. Adding that teaspoon of coconut (or olive) oil is key—it creates a smoother, shinier coating that sets beautifully.
- The Chill Factor: After dipping, let them set completely in the fridge. This ensures a perfect snap when you bite in. They store beautifully in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week (if they last that long!).
Pro Tip for Gatherings: This recipe is a proven crowd-pleaser and scales up effortlessly. Simply double or triple the batch for your holiday party or to make adorable, heartfelt gifts. Package a few in a small gift box—they’re a much more personal (and nourishing) token than another fruitcake.
As always, I hope you enjoy this recipe. If you make these delicious truffles, leave a comment below and let me know what you think.
