Bananas on Pocky sticks, coated with yogurt and sprinkled with chopped chocolate, these adorable banana yogurt frozen treats are super fun and easy to make. If you have little ones in your house, they are going to love helping you make them. It’s a great way to use up overripe bananas!

I just can’t let the summer go away yet… I guess it doesn’t matter when you live in a sunbelt like California, Florida or Texas, etc. However, no matter where you are, summer is fun! It’s the perfect time to be active – paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, or making some fun frozen treats to snack on, such as these Banana Yogurt Frozen Treats on Pocky Sticks.

The idea was from a recipe I came across on Siggi’s website. Instead of using frozen sticks, I wanted to have something edible to hold so that I can just pick it up and eat the whole thing including the sticks.

What’s edible and in a shape of a stick?

Pocky!

That was an “Aha” moment. I don’t get “Aha” moments very often, so this was something remarkable. Watch the video to see what I mean.

The problem is that Pocky can’t hold a lot of weight and it breaks easily. Therefore, in order to continue executing my genius idea, I had to cut my banana in smaller pieces.

Once you stick the Pocky sticks into the banana pieces, freeze for an hour. It will make dipping into the yogurt mixture easier.

Keep in mind that your Pocky might break during the process. But who cares? The point is that it’s Pocky! Just eat it. This fun dessert making process gets more fun this way. Don’t you agree?

Next, combine vanilla or plain yogurt with some heavy cream or milk. If the mixture is too thick to coat the bananas, add more cream or milk. The last step is my favorite – sprinkle chopped chocolate all over the treats, then return to the freezer until ready to serve. It’s that easy!

I hope you have fun making this recipe and enjoy the treats! Please leave a comment below or share your photos with me on Instagram by using our hashtag #StreetSmartKitchen so that I can see your adorable banana yogurt frozen treats!

Description

Bananas on Pocky sticks, coated with yogurt and sprinkled with chopped chocolate, these adorable banana yogurt frozen treats are super fun and easy to make.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 bananas
  • 18 Pocky sticks, any flavor
  • 1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 4 ounces chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut each banana in 6 pieces.
  2. Insert a Pocky stick in each banana piece and place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Freeze for about an hour.
  3. In the meantime, whisk yogurt and heavy cream together in a small bowl. Chop up the chocolate.
  4. Dip the frozen bananas in the yogurt mixture, making sure they are well coated. Sprinkle with chopped chocolates and place them back down on the baking sheet. Return to the freezer until ready to serve. Enjoy!

Notes

When dipping the frozen bananas in the yogurt mixture, the Pocky sticks might break. Holding the part of the stick that’s close to the banana piece will help prevent the stick from breaking easily. In case the Pocky sticks do break, I suggest you enjoy them right away. That’s part of the reason that we use Pocky sticks instead of frozen treat sticks here. 😀
