Make your own tender, tangy, juicy beef burgers at home with 12 basic ingredients and ten minutes of prep time. Then let the slow cooker take care of the rest.

Tangy Barbecue Beef Burgers

Burger cravings: When they hit, it’s hard to think about anything else. Your first instinct may be to open a food delivery app, cook up a frozen beef patty, or zip through a drive-thru. But if you knew how simple and hassle-free it is to make homemade fresh, tender barbecue beef burgers from scratch in the slow cooker, I can almost guarantee you’ll never look back.

This tangy barbecue beef burger recipe uses just 12 ingredients (less the buns and toppings), takes ten minutes of prep time, and requires only three pieces of equipment: a mixing bowl, fork, and slow cooker.

Aside from the boneless beef roast, there’s a good chance you have most of the ingredients stocked in your fridge and pantry. Round up some fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, spices, onion, cider vinegar, garlic, brown sugar—and you’re basically set.

Tangy Barbecue Beef Burger Filling

All you need to do to prep these burgers is combine the flavorings in a bowl, pour the mix over the beef, and let the slow cooker take care of the rest.

The hardest part about making this recipe is waiting six to eight hours for the beef to cook to tender perfection. Your kitchen will smell amazing, and your senses will be both delighted and tormented in anticipation of the first bite. But I promise the wait is worth it.

I usually serve up these tangy barbecue beef burgers with a handful of spring mix and sliced tomatoes to keep it quick and simple. Since the shredded beef has so much flavor, you don’t need to add much else to make them hearty and satisfying, but feel free to dress them up with any other vegetables or toppings your heart desires. If you’re a fan, sauerkraut makes a tasty addition.
