Suvi is just a fantastic way of cooking, but it's never quick, because as we all know
0:07
Suvi is all about slow cooking. However, with a little planning and a well-structured meal prep system, you can whip up quick and easy
0:20
very well-balanced, and restaurant-quality meals for your entire family for a whole week
0:26
Once the prep is done, it takes less than 15 minutes to run. to round out delicious, fresh, non-repetitive meals every day
0:34
In this video, I'm going to show you exactly how. Hello everyone, my name is Sharon Chan and I'm the creator of Street Smart Kitchen.com
0:44
and the author of the complete sous-vi cookbook, 150 plus recipes for perfect meat, seafood, vegetables, and more
0:53
In 2018, I moved from Austin, Texas to Hong Kong. All of a sudden, everything became from super big to super small
1:02
That included my kitchen, which had no oven, by the way. So I started to be cooking
1:07
It worked out great. Then a year later, I became a mother of a rug rat
1:12
Oh, it's nearly impossible to find a time to sleep, not to mention cook healthily
1:19
As a new mom who runs the business, finding the time to cook become really, really challenging
1:25
During that time, I tried many ways of milk bread. but none of them worked out for me
1:30
So out of desperation, I had discovered our final way to actually meal prep to meet my own needs
1:38
And then that's by using a student position cooker to significantly cut down the hands-on time
1:44
remove the stress from the regular meal prep, and save money. Since it's been working so well for me, I have fine-tuned the system in the past few years
1:55
And today, I am so excited to share it with you and I hope you find it helpful too
2:01
I call this meal prep system suvi once, savor, all week. Here's how it works. On the prep day, you will suviate three different kinds of protein
2:11
perhaps three different kinds of vegetables mostly suave it as well, and two or three kinds of healthy carbs, not the empty ones
2:19
along with one or two multi-purpose dressing, which have a healthy fat like X-Ovety
2:25
virgin olive oil or avocado building to them. Because your suvi machine is going to take a
2:31
lion's share of cooking, your actually hands-on time is less than two hours. I do this for myself
2:38
on the regular basis and other people who have joined the program, SESA too, so it is tested and proven
2:45
Once everything is all prepared, you store it properly in the fridge. Note that you now
2:51
have six great different meals with protein, veg, carbs, healthy fat at your fingertips, in the following days, pick one from each category
3:01
and mix and match it to create your superb dinner every day
3:05
One thing to note is that you do cook the majority of the food for a whole week ahead of time
3:11
So food storage is very important during the process. I'd highly recommend that considering your food for suvi and rapidly chilling it in ice water baths
3:22
before keeping it in the fridge. and this way when you keep in the fridge the food is still in its bag and opened and it can last for much longer Normally leftovers can last for about three days in the fridge On the third day even though the food is still edible
3:39
but it's already lost its freshness, right? We all have that experience
3:44
However, vacuuming your food to cook and store can actually make a last four up to a whole week
3:52
without losing any of the freshness. And this is how you can suvi once and savor it all week
3:59
all week. Already are you ready to do one week after meal prep together with me? I have
4:06
planned out this week's protein, veggies, carbs, healthy fats, everything is gluten-free. I
4:11
hope you're excited because I certainly am. Let's get started. For the main protein, we are
4:18
going to make ribbi, pork chops, chicken breast. This can be suave cooked at the same
4:24
temperature for about the same amount of time. That is the core of the
4:29
this milk crop system, finding foods to group cooked together in one soupy bath
4:34
And for veggies, we're going to make bacon-infused Brussels bells. Oh my god, it's so good
4:42
Bell peppers, onions, and asparagus. For carbs, let's do sweet potatoes, king one, and later in the week we can throw in a can of chickbees
4:53
If you are on a low carb diet, feel free to omit carbs or just reduce the amount for your own
4:59
meal plan. For healthy facts, we are going to make two sauces, spicy peach sauce and
5:05
chichoree. They're both flavor-packed and very healthy. Now let's start prepping according to the milk prep timeline. Essentially, that tells you exactly what you do every
5:17
step of the way so you don't even have to spend any time to think about it. First, we set
5:23
a temperature on the suvi machine at 194 very high and let a water baths preheat because we're
5:29
sui sweet potatoes first and after that we're going to drop the temperature to 183 which is very quick
5:36
for the brousel spouts asparagus onions and bell peppers now our meat for this entire week can be
5:45
suvi cooked at 140 very high for about 1 to 2 hours now all the other prep work like chopping
5:53
veggies seasoning foods and bagging the foods making sauces etc are actually done while something is in the suvi cooking so you are using your time
6:05
very wisely and being extremely efficient in the kitchen my friend while the water
6:11
is heating I'm gonna make some garlic-infused olive oil this is totally optional
6:15
but some people worry about adding raw garlic in their food to suvi so a batch of
6:22
garlic-infused olive oil comes really really handy in this case and you've got
6:28
cooked garlic with flavored oil. I mean we're talking about one stone two birds here, right
6:33
Maybe three birds. All you need to do is to add peeled garlic in a small saucepan
6:41
cover them with olive oil, and simmer over low heat until the garlic wrinkles a little and
6:47
then you can actually smell that aroma coming out. Sit that aside, we're going to use
6:52
it throughout the meal prep. Now let's get our sweet potatoes ready for swim
6:58
First peel chop it up put them in two or more bags add some salt and pepper some fresh herbs if you want and garden oil Arrange sweet potatoes in one single layer and seal up the bags
7:14
A water should be ready by now, but if it's not, you can always boil some water and add
7:20
hot water to the water baths to speed up the heating process
7:25
Drop the sweet potato bags in the water baths, weigh them down, and set the time for 20 minutes
7:30
Okay, sweet potatoes actually takes about 30 minutes to cook at 194 Fahrenheit
7:37
The reason I set the timer for 20 minutes is because I want to sue me some soft boiled eggs
7:43
which takes about 8 minutes at the same temperature. So when the timer goes off in 20 minutes, I drop the eggs in their shells still, leaving sweet potatoes in a bath to continue cooking
7:56
and I set the timer for 8 minutes. By the time it's done, both sweet potatoes and soft boiled eggs will be done
8:03
eggs will be ready when the timer goes off. Now the eggs are optional here but
8:09
since we already have a 194 very high water running we might as well cook some eggs
8:15
It takes no effort. While the sweet potato is of cooking let's prep the items that
8:20
will be cooked at the lower temperature which is 183 very high in this case. Yeah and
8:26
that will be the brozo spells asparagus, onion spell peppers all together the same
8:31
temperature. We're going to do this by frying some baking pieces in a pan until nice and almost crisp
8:37
Set out outside to cool and now we prep brother spouts by removing the ends and cut them in half
8:44
If your brother spouts are bigger, quarter them. Here comes the sui bags. Add the brousel
8:51
spells in the bags followed by our delicious baking pieces and some freshly ground
8:57
pepper. No need to add any salt in the bag because of you know
9:01
know, bacon. And that magic garlic oil, don't forget that. Seal them up and move on
9:08
Note that if your timer goes off at any point while you are prepping the next thing
9:13
just go transfer to cook the sweet potatoes or eggs in prepared ice water baths and lower the
9:19
suvi temperature to 183 Fahrenheit. Then you can come back to continue prepping the veggies
9:26
Brothers sauce take about 45 to an hour to cook in a suvić
9:31
baths at 183 Fahrenheit whereas asparagus, bell peppers, and onions, they take only 15 minutes at the same temperature
9:39
And that is why we prep the brothspouts first and then we let them start cooking, then do the rest of the veggies
9:46
And add them to the same water baths while the broths are still cooking
9:50
Just remember to set the timers accordingly. You get the idea. Once again, when the veggies are all done, put them in an ice water bath to
10:01
chill rapidly before transferring them to the fridge. Our lowest temperature setting for
10:08
today is going to be 140 very high and we're going to cook ribbi, pork chops
10:14
chicken breasts all together at the same time. Note that your ribeye will come
10:19
out medium at 140 but if you prefer a different dungness you might want to
10:25
cook the steak separately found pork and chicken at a different temperature
10:31
It's going to take a while for the water temperature to drop from 183 Fahrenheit to 140 Fahrenheit
10:38
Let leave that for now and go get our meat ready to suit it
11:08
Already, all of the protein is nicely portioned and packed. Let's go check out our water
11:18
If the water is not ready, we can scoop out some of the hot water from the water baths and
11:22
add cold water in it to speed up the temperature dropping process
11:30
Once the temperature reaches 140 Fahrenheit, submerge all of the protein bags in the water
11:35
and set the timer for 1 to 2 hours. on the sickness of your meats
11:40
Now what's left is our sauces, which takes 5 minutes each to prepare very easy
11:47
You can also cook some quinoa at this point, but that can be done on a later day during the week
11:53
It depends on which day of the week you'd like to incorporate king one into your meal
11:58
You know what? We are pretty much done here. Isn't that fun
12:03
Wait until you see all the food that we prepared for the entire week
12:07
week. Now go pour yourself a glass of wine, read a book, take a walk, kiss your partner, do whatever that makes you happy
12:19
Check this out! Whoa! Look at that! A whole week of healthy and delicious food for an entire family for a whole week
12:29
I don't know about you, but I feel pretty darned accomplished and happy
12:33
From here, every night before dinner, choose your protein, give it a quick cereal in a hot pan
12:40
and to heat it through and get the nice crust at the same time. Choose your sweet vegetables, you can warm them up in the same pan
12:47
then mix and match the size to create your own preferred balance of meal
12:53
And this is how you can put restaurant quality meals on the table in less than 15 minutes
12:59
If you need a little dinner inspiration, I have a recommended, menu here using all the food that we just prepared together. Obviously you can
13:08
certainly assemble your own dinners however you like. Just to show you some sample meals
13:13
here. Chicken breast with spicy peach sauce, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and suede eggs
13:21
Perfect steak with brousel spouts and sweet potatoes. Pork chops with bell peppers
13:25
onions, asparagus, king one, drizzled with spicy peach sauce. Chicken breast with
13:32
cherry, bars of spouts, fowel peppers, and quinoa. Healthy can one bowl with suede
13:38
vegetables and eggs. I usually plan for at least one or two vegetarian meals
13:43
during the entire week. So this can one bowl is our no-meat option
13:48
for this week. We're going to finish this week strong, healthy, and delicious
13:54
with California steak salad with chimituri. Here you have it. I hope you like this new way of meal
14:02
and I hope you find this video helpful. I very, very much look forward to hearing from you
