November is a relatively special month in the US. “Happy Thanksgiving!” is probably one of the most delightful and the most used greetings in this month. Other than spending some quality time with family, it reminds us that we are supposed to reflect on what we are thankful for. It also reminds us that this year is about to be the past and a new year is coming soon…

I thought there’s no better time to add something new than November – the thanks giving month, as a simple “Thank You” doesn’t describe my gratitude for your support! Welcome to a new feature on Gourmet Persuasion – the monthly edition! Starting from now, at the end of each month, we will be highlighting the most interesting things happened both on and off the site. That includes recipes, travels, things we are working on or some cool stuff we would like to share with you.

This is a chronicle of what we accomplish every month inside and outside of the kitchen, reminding us to set the next month’s goal and to keep moving forward, improving and creating. Hopefully you will catch something you missed in our monthly highlights. Let’s begin with FOOD!

Where did we go?

We went on a 4-day Yosemite, Las Vegas and Grand Canyon tour with Han’s parents at the beginning of this month. In terms of the tour itself, we absolutely do not recommend it. Let me give you some numbers and you will know why instantly. The total time you spend on the bus within 4 days is 33 hours! That’s 8.25 hours per day in average. Brutal! To someone like me, who can’t read on road trip without getting sick, it’s even more miserable. We are never going to do that again.

However, in terms of the destinations, they are shockingly gorgeous! We highly recommend visiting these MUST-GO places one at a time. I am documenting our entire travel experiences including how to plan your trip for each place. Find out more at the travel blog.

What did we do?

We flew to Monterey for lunch via a cessna driven by our pilot friend Julian Simioni, who lives one floor below us in the same building. Julian amazingly made our day even more epic by serving homemade pork chops for dinner in his apartment. Yep! The pilot can cook!

As the perfect way of ending November, we hosted our first Thanksgiving dinner in the States and realized how much we appreciate these good people in our lives!

That’s pretty much it. I hope you enjoy the November edition on GP. See you on Tuesday with a new healthy recipe!
